PNOĒ Metabolic Testing

Stop guessing.
Start knowing.

PNOĒ is a clinical-grade breath analysis that measures exactly how your body burns fuel — at rest and during exercise. It is the most accurate way to understand your metabolism, and it is available right here in Dallas at Innergy Fitness.

What Is Metabolic Testing?

The science behind the test

Metabolic testing is the most accurate way to understand how your body produces and uses energy. Instead of relying on estimates or population averages, it measures real physiological processes through breath analysis — giving you a precise picture of your metabolic health.

During the test, you breathe through the PNOĒ device, which analyzes the gases you exhale in real time. By measuring oxygen consumption (O₂) and carbon dioxide production (CO₂), the system calculates your respiratory exchange ratio (RER) — the key indicator of whether your body is burning fat or carbohydrates at any given moment.

Fat has an RER close to 0.7 — it requires more oxygen relative to CO₂ produced. Carbohydrates have an RER close to 1.0. By tracking this ratio across different intensities, your test reveals exactly where your fat-burning zone is, where your aerobic threshold sits, and how efficiently your metabolism functions overall.

Unlike fitness trackers or online calculators, PNOĒ does not estimate — it measures. The result is a clinical-grade metabolic profile that forms the foundation for everything: your training zones, your calorie targets, your nutrition strategy, and your long-term health plan.

Why It Matters

Most people are training and eating based on guesses.

Generic calorie calculators can be off by 20–30%. Heart rate zones based on "220 minus your age" ignore your actual physiology. Nutrition apps use averages that were never designed for your body. Metabolic testing replaces all of that with real data.

Research Validated

PNOĒ breath analysis is clinically validated to deliver the same accuracy as hospital-grade metabolic analyzers. The technology is used by elite sports teams, research institutions, and clinical health facilities worldwide — and now it is available to you at Innergy Fitness in Dallas.

Non-Invasive

No needles. No blood draws. No treadmill stress test required. You sit comfortably and breathe through a lightweight mask for 10–15 minutes. The device does the rest.

What You Will Learn

8 metrics that change everything.

Your PNOĒ report covers every dimension of your metabolism — from how many calories you burn at rest to how your body responds to peak exertion.

Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR)

The exact number of calories your body burns at rest to keep you alive — breathing, circulation, cell repair. Most people are using estimates that are off by hundreds of calories. Your RMR is the foundation of any real nutrition plan.

VO₂ Max

The maximum amount of oxygen your body can use during exercise. VO₂ max is one of the strongest predictors of cardiovascular health, aerobic capacity, and long-term longevity. We measure yours precisely — not estimate it from a formula.

Fat & Carb Burning Zones

At what heart rate does your body burn fat vs. carbohydrates? Most people train in the wrong zone entirely. Your test reveals the exact intensities where fat oxidation is highest — so every workout targets the right fuel source.

Respiratory Exchange Ratio (RER)

By measuring the ratio of oxygen consumed to CO₂ produced, we can see in real time whether your body is burning fat (RER ~0.7) or carbohydrates (RER ~1.0). This is the science behind your personalized fuel zones.

Heart & Lung Efficiency

How well does your cardiovascular system deliver oxygen to working muscles? This tells us your aerobic threshold, your recovery capacity, and how efficiently your body handles increasing exercise demands.

Biological Age

Your metabolic age compared to your calendar age. Clients are often surprised — some are metabolically younger than their years, others discover their metabolism has aged faster than expected. Either way, now you know.

Metabolic Flexibility

How efficiently does your body switch between fat and carbs as fuel sources? Poor metabolic flexibility is linked to weight gain, fatigue, and slow recovery. Your test reveals where you stand and how to improve it.

Personalized Training Zones

Six heart rate zones — each calibrated to your actual physiology. Zone 2 for fat burning and aerobic base. Zone 4 for threshold work. Zone 5 for peak performance. No more generic percentages of max heart rate.

Who Is It For?

Metabolic testing is for everyone.

Weight Loss

Stop guessing your calorie needs. Know your true RMR, your fat-burning zones, and exactly what your body needs to lose fat sustainably.

Athletes & Performance

Define your training zones with precision. Improve endurance, optimize fueling strategies, and reduce overtraining risk with data-driven coaching.

Longevity & Health

Track VO₂ max, metabolic efficiency, and biological age over time. Proactive metabolic health is one of the strongest predictors of long-term healthspan.

Anyone Who Wants Answers

If you've been working out and not seeing results, or you just want to understand your body better — metabolic testing gives you the data to finally make sense of it all.

How It Works

Four steps to clarity.

01

Schedule Your Test

Book online and come in fasted (no food for 4 hours, no exercise for 12 hours before your resting test). The whole appointment takes about 45–60 minutes.

02

Breathe Through the Mask

You sit comfortably and breathe through the PNOĒ device for 10–15 minutes. The analyzer measures the gases you exhale in real time — oxygen consumed, CO₂ produced, and everything in between. It is completely non-invasive.

03

Review Your Results

Stephanie or Jay walks you through your full metabolic profile — what each number means, what it reveals about your body, and what has been holding you back.

04

Get Your Personalized Plan

You leave with a training plan built around your actual zones, a nutrition framework based on your real RMR, and a clear roadmap for hitting your goals.

FAQ

Common questions

How is PNOĒ different from a fitness tracker or app?

Fitness trackers and apps use population-based formulas to estimate your metabolism. PNOĒ measures what is actually happening in your body by analyzing your breath in real time. The difference is like comparing a blood test to a guess — one is measured, one is estimated.

Does the test hurt or feel uncomfortable?

Not at all. You sit in a chair and breathe through a lightweight mask. There are no needles, no blood draws, and no physical exertion required for the resting test. Most clients say it feels completely normal within the first minute.

How often should I retest?

We recommend retesting every 8–12 weeks, or whenever you hit a plateau, change your training significantly, or want to measure progress. Your metabolism changes as your fitness improves — your plan should change with it.

What should I do before the test?

For the resting metabolic test: fast for at least 4 hours beforehand, avoid caffeine, and do not exercise for 12 hours prior. Wear comfortable clothing. We will walk you through everything when you book.

Can I use my results with my own trainer or doctor?

Absolutely. Your PNOĒ report is a clinical-grade document you can share with any health professional. Many clients bring their results to their physician or dietitian to complement their care.
